Channeling Struggles Into Strengths at WisdoMania Fest

Channeling Struggles Into Strengths at WisdoMania Fest

WisdoMania Fest, set to take place in Los Angeles, California on May 17 and May 19, aims to be a transformative experience where mental health care, creativity, and entertainment come together to create an experience unlike any other.

Helmed by singer-songwriter X. ARI and mental health advocate Torri Shack, WisdoMania Fest is co-hosted by two mental health nonprofits (the WisdoMania Foundation and the Tangible Movement) who aim to help people live meaningful and fulfilling lives despite their mental health challenges. Having faced their own mental health battles in the past, both X. ARI and Shack know what it’s like to face mental illness head-on.

Shack, the CEO and founder of Tangible Movement, encourages others to practice his methods of resilience by saying: “I encourage others to see resilience as a dynamic process of adapting in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, or significant sources of stress. It's about bouncing back from difficult experiences and, more importantly, using those experiences to fuel personal growth and development.”

X. ARI, who’s used her experience with her battle with mental health, adds that “everything is temporary. Nothing lasts forever. Hang on and never lose hope. Speak up and get the help you need and deserve. No one is alone.”

WisdoMania Fest, as a result, aspires to become the “Coachella of Wellness,” where people can unite to heal and celebrate the arts and participate in a community they might not have otherwise had. As a nonprofit, the WisdoMania Foundation aims to create memorable and impactful wellness experiences that empower people through not just creativity but coping skills. In their Songwriting for Wellness workshop, they combine reflection, meditation, breath work, songwriting, and mental health resources while teaching attendees how to take an idea and turn it into a full-length song. It is a fun, restorative event where those attending can channel their emotions into art and create something meaningful in the process.

WisdoMania Fest takes place over two days in May 2024 and is FREE to all those who are interested.

The first day, Wellness & Arts Day, is on May 17 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Griffith Park (Crystal Springs Picnic Area). At 5 pm, the doors open to the Liber8Xperience, where flow yoga, dance, and sound-bath experiences occur. Attendees are advised to bring a yoga mat and a blanket. Then, at 7:30, a performance by singer Chloe Star takes place.

Day 2, Mental Entertainment Day, takes place on May 19 at 4:30 PM at Catch One at 4067 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90019. At 5 pm, Songwriting for Wellness begins. Then, at 7 pm, there is a mental health panel, which will be followed by a comedy set by comics Mav Viola and Bri Ginger. Finally, at 8 pm, the night closes out with live music from artists such as X. ARI, Noah Davis, Diarra Sylla, and DJ Naté.

WisdoMania Fest is a fun, all-ages, accessible, and dynamic way to channel one’s mental health struggles into triumphs. By uniting with people with similar experiences, attendees can see the world from a different perspective while learning about their own struggles and strengths.
