DJI Enters 360º Market with Industry-First Osmo 360 Camera

After months of speculation, DJI has officially entered the immersive imaging space with the launch of the Osmo 360 — its first-ever 360º camera, and one that arrives with a slate of industry-leading features and performance benchmarks.

Known for revolutionizing drone and gimbal technology, DJI is now aiming to raise the bar for immersive content creation, promising both enthusiasts and professionals an entirely new level of visual clarity, versatility, and innovation.

8K at 50fps and a First-of-Its-Kind Square Sensor

At the core of the Osmo 360 is a 1-inch HDR square sensor, which DJI claims is not only physically larger than the 1/1.28-inch sensor of its main rival, the Insta360 X5, but also 25% more efficient. The unique square shape eliminates the unused edges of a traditional rectangular sensor, improving field-of-view usage and battery performance.

The camera can shoot 8K video at 50fps, which DJI says is an industry first, and allows for continuous 8K recording at 30fps for up to 100 minutes — an achievement no other 360 camera currently offers.

Unmatched Still Imaging and Low-Light Performance

Beyond video, DJI is touting the Osmo 360’s still photography capabilities. The camera boasts 2.4μm pixels — double the industry standard size — delivering sharper 360º stills with reduced noise and increased detail. The f/1.9 aperture and high dynamic range of 13.5 stops further enhance its low-light performance, giving creators more flexibility in a wider range of lighting conditions.

Versatility and Action-Ready Design

While packed with pro-level features, the Osmo 360 is also designed for on-the-go use. It weighs just 183g, includes 105GB of built-in storage, and supports up to 180 minutes of runtime when paired with the Battery Extension Rod.

In single-lens mode, the Osmo 360 doubles as a first-person action camera, offering up to 5K/60fps with a 155° ultra-wide angle, or 4K/120fps in “Boost Video” mode with a dramatic 170° field of view.

Smart Features and Seamless Controls

DJI has also packed the Osmo 360 with intuitive features, including: Gesture and voice controls
Intelligent subject tracking
Quick switching between lenses without interrupting recording

These functions make it easy for content creators to stay immersed in the moment while capturing professional-grade footage.

A New Era for 360º Imaging

The Osmo 360 represents a bold step forward for DJI and a new benchmark in the 360 camera market. With its blend of high-end performance, smart usability, and innovative sensor tech, DJI is positioning the Osmo 360 as a top-tier tool for filmmakers, adventurers, and immersive storytellers alike.

Expect availability details, pricing, and accessories to be announced soon.
