Disruptive Entrepreneur and Servant Leader Tony De Gouveia’s Journey To Network Marketing Pro

Success resulting from small efforts repeated daily is a sentiment that disruptive entrepreneur and servant leader Tony De Gouveia has sculpted his life around. While his history of triumphant stories and current place as one of the industry’s top earners stand out as testaments to his approaches, the path into the network marketing industry genuinely sets him apart.

Although De Gouveia has separated himself in terms of his steadfast work ethic, his methodology can appear unconventional as he leads from the center as opposed to the front, a tactic he discovered on the way to becoming the successful leader he is today.

Born an average Portuguese man to an average Portuguese family in Johannesburg, South Africa, De Gouveia was not planted into a life of luxury. He started working the register at the family business when he was only 12 years old, performing his job duties between school hours. Upon graduating high school, the future entrepreneur entered college for accounting, but De Gouveia soon realized he had no passion for the field.

Unsure where he was heading, he returned to the family business, and it wasn’t long before he took over operations at 22. Within one year, he decided to start a buying group with nine other founders, and together, the group built a brand called RightValue before it was eventually bought out. It was here where De Gouveia uncovered a love and appreciation for retail.

Finding true satisfaction as a retailer, De Gouveia worked in the franchising industry for over two decades, enjoying multiple successes. However, as with everything in life, change is the only constant. The retail market began to change drastically throughout the early portions of the 21st century, and the entrepreneur found himself losing his love for the industry. At 40, De Gouveia took a sabbatical, hit the reset button, and looked into other opportunities.

This is where he found his love for network marketing. Entering the field in 2010 was not an immediate leap to financial freedom. De Gouveia was jumping into a whole new world, so, of course, there would be some learning curves. Starting with no skills, he ultimately spent the next five years struggling to find the correct way to lead within the network marketing industry. What De Gouveia eventually realized, however, was life-changing.

De Gouveia found that leadership is not the ability to tell people what to do but the ability to teach them how to do what they need. In this way, a leader can empower rather than disempower those around them. For De Gouveia, it’s all about remaining at the center, empowering new leaders, and simply guiding others who are experts in their specific fields, and with this, the attitude of being a servant leader was born. De Gouveia strategized and developed a method that has ultimately allowed his work to bring him unprecedented levels of freedom and financial success, a technique he coined T.U.B. — The Ultimate Business.
