BYD is gearing up to unleash a track-focused version of its Yangwang U9 supercar, and the numbers are staggering. Reports suggest it could deliver over 3,000 horsepower, tripling the output of the standard model.
Quad-Motor Power
The current U9 produces 960 kW (1,287 hp), but new filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology reveal the Track Edition will pack four electric motors — one per wheel — each producing around 555 kW (744 hp). Combined, that’s an eye-watering 2,220 kW (3,019 hp).
Track-Ready Upgrades
Alongside the huge power boost, the filings detail performance-oriented hardware including a squared-off stance with 325/35/20 tires on all four corners, enhanced aerodynamic elements, and a gross weight of 2,630 kg (5,798 lbs).
While the exterior styling remains largely in line with the original U9, these changes focus squarely on maximizing track performance and handling.
Production Uncertain
BYD has yet to confirm if or when the high-output U9 Track Edition will enter production. If it does, it could set a **new benchmark for all-electric performance cars**, outmuscling even the most extreme EV hypercars on the market.
