Nike Basketball has officially expanded its Kobe Protro line with a new silhouette—the Nike Kobe 3 Protro Low. Building on the excitement of this weekend’s launch of the Kobe 3 Protro “Halo,” the brand is now taking the 2008 classic into low-top form, offering athletes and fans another fresh take on one of Kobe Bryant’s most innovative sneakers.
During a closed design briefing, Nike confirmed that the low-top version carries over all of the advanced performance upgrades found in the new Protro. That includes a full-length Zoom strobel unit, updated materials, and a breathable mesh construction at the upper.
A New Era for the Kobe 3
The Kobe 3 Protro has been billed as the most advanced Protro release yet, blending heritage design with modern performance technology. By reintroducing the 2008 model with today’s engineering, Nike aims to meet the demands of modern basketball while preserving Kobe’s vision of pushing innovation forward.
The introduction of the Kobe 3 Protro Low signals Nike’s intent to cater to different playing styles and personal preferences, as many hoopers lean toward low-cut sneakers for greater agility and movement.
The “Halo” Low: A Rare Promo Pair
The first look at the Kobe 3 Protro Low comes in a clean, all-white “Halo” colorway. However, Nike has confirmed this specific pair is a promotional edition and will not be available at retail.
While no official release dates have been confirmed for general colorways, sneaker insiders expect Nike to roll out multiple versions of the Kobe 3 Protro Low alongside the standard model throughout 2025.
For fans, this unveiling reinforces the Kobe line’s ongoing legacy—where performance, innovation, and storytelling remain at the core of every release.
