The Engineered Garments x JunAle collaboration brings traditional Japanese sashiko craft to the iconic Reebok Instapump Fury 94.

A Handcrafted Take on a Futuristic Icon

Engineered Garments and JunAle reunite with Reebok to deliver a meticulously crafted reinterpretation of the Instapump Fury 94. The collaboration applies traditional Japanese sashiko stitching to one of the most recognizable silhouettes of the 1990s, introducing a tactile, craft-driven dimension to a sneaker defined by its futuristic design language.

Created in collaboration with sashiko artist Jun Sugimae and his artisanal studio JunAle, the project highlights the contrast between heritage handwork and technical sportswear. Each pair is finished with hand-applied embroidery, ensuring subtle variations that emphasize the individuality and authenticity of the craft.

Tradition Meets Technical Design

The Instapump Fury’s bold paneling and sculptural form provide a striking canvas for JunAle’s signature stitching. Layered textile overlays are enriched with tonal sashiko patterns, softening the sneaker’s sharp lines while adding depth and texture. This interplay of materials reinforces Engineered Garments’ hallmark aesthetic, where asymmetry, utility, and refinement coexist.

Despite the artisanal focus, the sneaker retains its performance DNA. Reebok’s split midsole and integrated carbon-fiber plate remain intact, delivering stability and structure beneath the handcrafted upper.

Subtle Details and Thoughtful Finishes

The collaboration is offered in two restrained colorways, Black and Brown, chosen to highlight the texture of the sashiko work rather than overpower it. Subtle asymmetry, rugged textiles, and tonal stitching create a lived-in, almost patinated appearance that aligns with the project’s craft-first philosophy.

Finishing touches include co-branded footbeds and understated heel branding, allowing the handwork to remain the focal point. Together, these elements underscore the collaboration’s commitment to authenticity, celebrating the human touch at the core of the design.

A Dialogue Between Craft and Innovation

By merging traditional Japanese textile techniques with a pioneering athletic silhouette, the Engineered Garments x JunAle Instapump Fury 94 stands as a study in contrasts. The collaboration bridges eras, cultures, and disciplines, transforming a classic Reebok model into a wearable expression of craft, heritage, and modern design.
