What’s the most important moment in healthcare? Perhaps it’s when a patient gets a clear diagnosis, or when someone who’s been ill finally turns a corner. In any case, the best moments are rarely the most lucrative. According to Sam R. Patel, founder of healthcare app Looped, the most profitable moment in healthcare doesn’t happen during the appointment — it happens after.

During an appointment, the patient has the opportunity to ask questions and plan their next steps. However, as almost anyone can attest, many people think of questions and concerns after they’ve already left.

Looped, a white-label app that connects patients to their care teams, provides post-visit education while driving continued engagement. Patients can learn about additional treatments and services and access follow-up care guidelines, and they earn reward points by watching curated videos from health professionals around the world.

They can then use those reward points to pay for treatments. For more costly treatments, they can even access low-interest financing through the app.

Patel also knows that many healthcare clinics operate on thin margins, and reliable revenue is a direct result of a healthy patient lifecycle.

“Every specialty needs their patients to be educated, needs their patients to have an interactive tool,” he says. “They all have a patient lifecycle. They want to get a patient in. They want to do a consultation. They want to do treatment. Then they want to get them to come back to spend more money.”

So how does Looped help clinicians stay connected with their patients (and drive profitability) between visits?

“A lot of people are coming to us wanting Looped because they want a better patient experience,” Patel explains. “They want to stand out from their competitors. Looped gives patients a better connection to, and understanding of, their health. It's giving them other options and recommendations, which obviously drives clinic revenue.”

In today’s healthcare landscape, many clinic owners know that implementing the right technology can have a transformative effect on revenue. However, in some cases, setting up and managing new technology takes time, money, and energy they don’t have.

As a former medical practice owner himself, Patel knows this better than most. That’s why he and his team designed Looped to be as efficient and hands-off as possible for clinic owners and their staff.

“Most clinics and businesses shy away from adopting new software because of the difficulty of integrating it into their current operations,” he says. “There's a lot of friction that comes with anything new. So we've taken away that friction by creating not only a new platform that can help elevate their clinic, but … a self-guided platform that essentially runs itself. The patients essentially run it, not the clinic.”

Looped carries the momentum from the original visit by keeping patients tuned into their health and what they can do to improve it.

With the app, patient retention isn’t driven by nonstop promos or reminder calls. Patients come back because they’ve been empowered to take an active role in managing their own health.

Ultimately, Looped enables providers across all specialties to have the same high-touch care model that many luxury clinics do.

“Almost 250 clinics use the app now. We have a lot of dentists. We have a lot of concierge medicine doctors. We have a lot of family medicine and internal medicine doctors. We have a lot of chiropractors. We have the traditional med spas and aesthetic derm clinics,” Patel says. “Anyone can have a luxury clinic with Looped.”
