Jaeger-LeCoultre expands its Master Grande Tradition line

Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre has revealed three new variations of its Master Grande Tradition Calibre 985, alongside a striking limited edition of the Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel. Both launches highlight the maison’s dedication to mechanical mastery, craftsmanship, and aesthetic refinement.

Master Grande Tradition Calibre 985

The 42mm Master Grande Tradition Calibre 985 arrives in three versions:

Pink gold case with brown dial
Platinum case with polished bezel
Platinum case with diamond-set bezel featuring 72 baguette-cut diamonds
The intricate case construction comprises over 80 components, with screwed-in lugs and alternating polished, brushed, and micro-blasted finishes.

Dial details

The dial showcases refined techniques:

A hand-bevelled bridge spanning the face
A recessed tourbillon aperture for visual depth
Micro-blasted minute tracks and opaline subdials that change tone under different lighting
Laser-engraved calendar numerals in relief style
At 6 o’clock, the tourbillon cage features an arc-shaped 20-second scale and three blued hands, reflecting the maison’s hallmark precision as the tourbillon completes a full rotation every 60 seconds.

Movement finishing

Through the sapphire caseback, collectors can admire fine finishing:

Blued screws, sun-rayed Côtes de Genève, and hand-bevelling
A 22k rose-gold rotor engraved with Jaeger-LeCoultre founder Antoine LeCoultre’s 1851 Great Exhibition gold-medal motif

Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel

The Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel is a limited edition of 50 pieces, measuring 40mm in an 18k pink gold case. Its dial features:

Anthracite-grey Grand Feu enamel, hand-applied in five layers and fired at 800°C
A sunray guilloché pattern and circular guilloché date subdial
Inside beats the latest Calibre 978 tourbillon movement, fitted with a titanium cage under one gram and a two-level hairspring. Each component is hand-finished, representing Jaeger-LeCoultre’s balance of technical virtuosity and timeless artistry.
